Weird Smoking Laws
I've made a small investigation to find out what are the restrictions on tobacco in different corners of the world, and, to my surprise, the most of them were more than funny, they were weird. :)
The list of funny tobacco laws:
You cannot smoke while participating in carnival or a parade in New Orleans, Louisiana, though almost everything else is legal there. :)
You are not allowed to give lighted cigars to domestic animals in a small town of Zion, Illinois. :)
You are also not allowed to give cigars, cigarettes or whiskey to the animals in New Jersey zoos. And I thought they would love having a glass of whiskey from time to time :)
You are free to smoke a pipe in New Port, Rhode Island but only during daylight hours because it's illegal to do this after sunset. :)
If you are a teenager in Missouri, you are permitted to buy loose tobacco and rolling paper but have no right to buy a cigarette lighter. However no one went as far as to banning matches. :)
If you are a child in Australia, you are banned from purchasing any tobacco production. However if you have a grown up person to buy it for you, you are legally allowed to smoke a cigar or cigarette in front of policemen, parents, teachers, etc.
If you are an ashtray.....sorry, you cannot be an ashtray. :) However if you were an ashtray, you would be banned in France because they’re considered deadly weapons there.
You cannot force a monkey smoke a cigarette (and what about cigars?:)) in South Bend, Indiana. This weird law goes back to 1924 when a monkey was found guilty of smoking a cigarette and was obliged to pay a fine of $25, along with trial costs. :)
I'm sure these laws made some of you laugh and hope that you are not one of those people who are forced to abide these laws living in these particular places.:)
