Filler leaves are responsible for providing the cigar's traits in which its quality will be based on (a lot of things rest on this fellow's shoulders!). So fillers make or break a good cigar.
Fillers can be described as the extreme sports person of the tobacco world. The filler needs powerful, direct and extreme solar exposure to maximize and harness the amount of necessary chemicals needed to produce quality cigars. Fillers give the group that extra kick. The following are the characteristics to look for in well cultivated fillers:
- High in nicotine content
- Distinct and robust flavour
- Aroma embodies the region it was grown in
- Pliable
- Easily lit (you know the drill)
